Fostering Innovation in Education: Insights from Shiksha Sandesh’s Workshop

Shiksha Sandesh English School in Belbari, Morang, conducted a two-day workshop on Mangsir 14 and 15, 2081 (November 29 and 30, 2024), focusing on empowering parents, teachers, and educational leaders, while promoting discussions on innovative educational practices.

The program featured training sessions and a plenary session, with active participation from over 200 parents and 300 educators and educational leaders. Seven lead trainers conducted the workshops: Rajesh Prasad Shrestha, Bharati Adhikari, Maniram Ghimire, Pawan Adhikari, Uttisikha Adhikari, Lauria Maria Gierson, and Shiv Prasad Jaisi. The primary theme of the training was the integration of ICT in classrooms, along with sessions on early childhood development and skill enhancement through extracurricular activities.

The highlight of the workshop was the plenary session, led by Pawan Adhikari, Founder and Managing Director of Prayokta, with support from Prayokta. The session featured four esteemed panelists:

  • Pradip Shah, Assistant CDO of Morang
  • Shiva Prasad Dhakal, former Mayor of Sundar Haraicha Municipality
  • Bhagawati Prasad Ghimire, Chairperson of Belbari PABSON
  • Narayan Prasad Shrestha, Chairperson of Morang NPABSON

The panelists emphasized several key resolutions:

  • The need to prepare innovative teachers for diverse classrooms.
  • The importance of collaboration between public and private institutions to foster innovative education.
  • Central government involvement is essential for educational governance, but decentralization is needed to address local educational contexts effectively.
  • Policies should reflect the needs of individual communities.
  • Innovative education should align with the demands of the Nepali market.
