Innovative Education Workshop Empowers Teachers and School Leaders in Galkot

Professional development is one of the strongest foundations of quality education. As schools continue to adapt to changing educational needs, teachers and school leaders must continuously update their knowledge, skills, and leadership practices. With this vision, the Galkot Private and Boarding Schools Association (GPBSA) successfully organized a two-day Innovative Education Workshop for Teachers and School Leaders on 27–28 Chaitra 2081 at New Life Boarding Secondary School, Galkot, Baglung. The workshop was organized by GPBSA with the generous support of Prayokta, Toran School, U.R.B. Nepal, and Barahakhari Foundation, bringing together educators, school leaders, academic coordinators, and administrators from across the region to engage in meaningful discussions, collaborative learning, and practical training aimed at transforming teaching and school leadership.

A Collaborative Learning Experience

The workshop was designed as an interactive professional learning platform where participants actively engaged in discussions, group activities, classroom simulations, and reflective exercises rather than simply listening to presentations. Every session encouraged participants to share their classroom experiences, discuss common challenges, and collectively explore practical solutions that could be implemented immediately in their own schools.

This collaborative approach created a vibrant learning environment where educators learned not only from the facilitators but also from one another. The exchange of ideas, experiences, and innovative practices helped participants build stronger professional networks while reinforcing the value of continuous learning and collaboration within the education community.

The two-day programme reflected a shared belief that the best educational innovations emerge when teachers and school leaders come together to learn, reflect, and inspire one another.

Diverse Parallel Sessions for Different Learning Needs

Recognizing that educators have different professional responsibilities, the workshop was structured into parallel thematic sessions, allowing participants to choose learning pathways most relevant to their roles.

Teachers working in Early Childhood Development (ECD) participated in sessions that explored the importance of early childhood education, learner-centred approaches, child development, and effective strategies for creating engaging early learning environments. These sessions emphasized that the experiences children receive during their formative years significantly influence their cognitive, emotional, and social development, making quality early childhood education an essential investment for every school.

Meanwhile, primary-level teachers explored STEAM education and integrated curriculum approaches, where facilitators demonstrated how science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics can be meaningfully connected through activity-based learning. Participants discussed practical classroom strategies that encourage creativity, inquiry, collaboration, and problem-solving while making learning more engaging and relevant for students.

A dedicated learning track was also organized for school leaders, principals, and administrators, focusing on educational leadership, change management, and effective school management practices. These sessions encouraged participants to reflect on the evolving role of school leadership in today’s educational landscape and highlighted how strong leadership creates positive school culture, supports teacher growth, and ultimately improves student learning outcomes.

Throughout the workshop, participants had the flexibility to join sessions aligned with their professional interests, making the learning experience both personalized and highly practical.

Experienced Facilitators

The workshop featured a diverse panel of experienced educators and education leaders who brought together expertise from school leadership, curriculum innovation, teacher professional development, educational management, and institutional transformation.

The facilitation team included Bharati Adhikari, Rajesh Prasad Shrestha, Sneta Sigdel, Biru Bohora Chhetri, Sangita Sigdel, Pawan Adhikari, and Uttsikha Adhikari. Drawing upon their rich professional experiences from schools and higher education institutions, the facilitators blended educational theory with practical classroom examples, enabling participants to connect new concepts with their everyday teaching and leadership responsibilities.

Their engaging facilitation style encouraged open dialogue, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, making each session highly interactive and relevant to the realities faced by educators.

Building Schools Ready for Tomorrow

One of the strongest messages that resonated throughout the two-day workshop was that innovation in education extends far beyond the use of technology. True educational innovation lies in creating learner-centred classrooms, cultivating curiosity, strengthening collaboration among teachers, empowering school leaders, and building school cultures that continuously strive for improvement.

Participants reflected on how small but meaningful changes in teaching practices, curriculum implementation, assessment methods, and leadership approaches can significantly improve students’ learning experiences. The discussions also reinforced the importance of developing schools where teachers are encouraged to innovate, leaders inspire change, and students are equipped with the skills needed for an increasingly dynamic future.

Rather than focusing solely on theoretical concepts, the workshop consistently emphasized practical strategies that educators could immediately apply in their classrooms and institutions, making the learning experience highly relevant and action-oriented.

A Heartfelt Appreciation

The success of this workshop was made possible through the dedication and collaboration of many individuals and institutions. A special note of appreciation goes to Mr. Biru Bohora Chhetri, Principal of New Life Boarding Secondary School, whose leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment played a pivotal role in hosting and coordinating this meaningful initiative. His enthusiasm for continuous professional development and his support for creating learning opportunities for educators significantly contributed to the success of the programme.

We also extend our sincere gratitude to the management, teaching staff, and entire New Life Boarding Secondary School family for their exceptional hospitality, meticulous planning, and seamless logistical support throughout the two-day event. Their warm welcome, efficient coordination, and commitment to creating a comfortable learning environment ensured that participants and facilitators could fully engage in the workshop. Their collective efforts truly reflected the spirit of collaboration and educational excellence.

Looking Ahead

The successful completion of the Innovative Education Workshop marks another meaningful step toward strengthening professional learning among educators in Nepal. As educational systems continue to evolve, opportunities for teachers and school leaders to learn together, exchange ideas, and develop innovative practices become increasingly valuable.

GPBSA’s initiative, together with the support of Prayokta, Toran School, U.R.B. Nepal, and Barahakhari Foundation, reflects a shared commitment to nurturing capable educators and visionary school leaders who can drive positive change within their schools and communities. By investing in teachers and educational leadership today, such initiatives contribute to building more inclusive, innovative, and future-ready schools for tomorrow. At Prayokta, we remain committed to supporting educational institutions through meaningful professional development, innovative learning experiences, and collaborative partnerships that empower educators, strengthen educational leadership, and inspire lasting transformation across Nepal.
